The continual siege of different regions in Syria has pushed more
groups to migrate violence and seek survival in safer places in and around northern Aleppo suburbs. Large number
of migrant arrivals have started to reach the relatively stable area, compared
to conflict-heated suburbs, as livelihood continues to deteriorate at home
villages and cities. The influx of migrants have brought about renewed challenges
to health, education, and livelihood support networks in destination cities.
Migration has put many Syrian households at threat of hunger and thrust. As prices soar in destination areas, those living in camps strive to provide adequate livelihood conditions.
Hoping to put a smile on the Syrians faces, and as means to support our brothers and sisters and alleviate the scourge of war on the afflicted people, ‘Beyaz Eller Organization’ has worked through support of ‘Qalansawa’ households, and supervised by ‘Kind Hearts- Palestine 48 Association’, on undertaking ‘food baskets and shelter supplies distribution project’ in northern Aleppo suburbs.
The project was based on providing shelter supplies to 500 households, of whom 135 households have also received food baskets, one for each. The project benefited 500 families, equivalent to 2,500 persons.
It is possibly hard to describe the humanitarian cases that we met during the distributions. We tried to explore the extent of misery and see whether recipients need other types of assistance or supplies.
A young man in his twenties suffered from a severe injury at his back. He said: “our house was bombarded and we could hardly get out of the rubble. Thanks Allah we were all safe. But the injury took away my ability to move. I am the only breadwinner after my father had passed away four years ago. Since then we have been lacking even the simplest life necessities’
Another beneficiary said: “in this cold and miserable conditions, I used to hear my children crying from hunger and fear. I tried hard to alleviate their pain but I never succeed in calming them down.”
