Qurbani Meat Reaches 332,500 Syrians in Eid al-Adha

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees warned that millions of displaced Syrian families suffer extremely tough conditions that pull them deeper into poverty. With soaring prices and continued devaluation of the Syrian currency, many alimentary products, particularly bread and protein sources, became unaffordable. To revive and strengthen values of human solidarity and fraternity, Beyaz Eller undertook a project to distribute Qurbani meat of 2500 sheep in besieged northern cities. Executed in August 2015, 75,000 kg of meat were distributed on 93,750 individuals. The project amounted to $632,100. In previous years, White Hands successfully distributed meat of 2500 Qurbani, 5030 lambs and 84 cows on afflicted families.

This came under the institution’s Food Security and Livelihood program (FSL) that aims at alleviating the suffering of displaced Syrians, preserving their human dignity and enabling them a sustainable livelihood.
