Food Baskets in Al Ruston City

Food Baskets in Al Ruston City

Al Ruston city suffers incredible shortage in food supplies along with inflated prices because of the continued siege that strangles its borders. According to local activists, 6422 civilians are trapped in the city, while over 200 families escape every day.
In response, Beyaz Eller, in coordination with Islamic Help, distributed 650 food baskets on afflicted and displaced families inside the city. The project took place on 17th June 2016. The institution defined distribution zones, asked for tenders by local merchants, chose best price bids, defined beneficiaries, purchased food supplies, transported, packed and distributed food baskets and, finally, evaluated the project.
‘Food Baskets’ project aim at saving besieged Syrians inside the city, and providing them with food aids. The project reached 3,250 individuals; our team focused on women and children- being the two most vulnerable groups to food insecurity.
