Water shortage and pollution have direct effects on public health of the afflicted Syrian population. In some areas, water scarcity blows a whistle over the spread of diseases and hepatitis among vulnerable inhabitants. Amid prolonged cuts of water in besieged Homs, some families resort to drilling makeshift wells and collecting rainfall water to compensate for the severe water shortage in the city. However, increased drilling expenses under the siege pose more challenges of the fragile finances of the afflicted families.
Thereof, Beyaz Eller, with an aim to alleviate the burden on besieged households, have sponsored the drilling of 7 wells in al-Ruston and Telbiseh cities- Homs. The project covers water needs of 10,000 individuals by regular provision of water to 2,000 households.
