The Blessed month of Ramadan arrived this year with much misery on the Syrian people who have braved intensive bombardment on the southern side of Idlib and Hama suburbs forcing local communities to migrate to safer areas and increasing the already miserable circumstances of host communities who living conditions only deteriorate over time.
According to statistics by human rights organization, some 551,877 migrants have moved suddenly to fields where they stayed in the open for weeks. The afflicted population found only trees to protect them and vulnerable children against burning sun heat.
In efforts to support the fasting population during Ramadan ‘Beyaz Eller organization’ launched ‘Ramadan AlKhayr 7’ campaign as part of the organization’s series of annual campaigns during Ramadan. This year, our projects addressed the afflicted households’ needs during the blessed month. We directed our efforts to the populace in northern Syria while serving the needs of Syrian refugees inside Turkey.
We served a variety of projects this year starting from classic food basket distributions to cooked meals and purchase coupons that allow families freedom to select their food priorities. In Eid, our Syrian children had special treats; we set up entertainment and play zones and strived to bring bag Eid cheers despite the war.
Our food baskets contained several consumables that each family needs during Ramadan. We addressed general and basic food needs such as rice, lentils, cooking oil, sugar, and other essentials.
In Syria, we distributed 11,145 food baskets that benefited 55,725 persons. We cooked ready-to-eat 73,859 Iftar meals and delivered them to our people in northern Syria where we also held 21 collective Iftar tables.
In Turkey, we distributed 910 purchase coupons in Kahraman Maras, 100 Eid clothing sets to children, and Zakat Al-Mal to 350 households.
Our projects under ‘Ramadan AlKhayr7’ Campaign have benefited 135,975 Syrians.
Beyaz Eller has worked on implementing wide-reach projects targeting the largest possible beneficiaries.
We addressed those households unable to afford their food expenses. Our projects served breadwinners and needed households in collaboration with many sponsors and partners.
These were: Abdullah Al Nouri Charity Society, Qatar Charity, the International Islamic Charity Organization, the Turkish Red Crescent, Al Rahma International, White Hearts, Madad, Qawafel for Relief and Development, Onsur, Rahma Islamic Relief Fund, Pennyappeal, and Beyza.
As we reach the end of Ramadan, we would like to express our deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, money, and support in order for us to reach the needy Muslims in Ramadan. To everyone who stood by their side even with a kind word, to everyone who put a smile on our children’s faces…May Allah reward you all with goodness.
