Beyaz Eller Distributes Water on ِِِAfflicted Families in Aleppo and its Countryside

Residents in Aleppo, Syria’s commercial center, suffer the continued stoppage of water services in the city, a crisis that leaves them scrambling to secure drinking and bathing water from wells. The flow of water into the city was severely affected by the bombardment of the General Commission for Water by regime forces last April. Meanwhile, prices of bottled water has phenomenally increased, thus forcing impoverished families into a trade-off between purchasing either water or food. Even water of makeshift wells is reported to have caused typhoid and salmonella illnesses among residents- according to a UNICEF worker. To ease the crisis of water scarcity and vulnerable or polluted supply, Beyaz Eller, in coordination with Sofraa organization, built and assembled a portable water container to provide clean water to the beleaguered families around Aleppo. This comes under Beyaz Eller’s Water and Sanitation Program that aims at sustaining livelihood in besieged and war-torn areas in the Syrian inside.
