7 schools providing education to 3,591 students in Syria

 Operating 7 Schools in 2016-2017

Because of the relentless bloodshed in Syria, the number of children missing out on a vital education is on rise. With every displacement wave, families flee violence to safer zones where educational services are generally poor and/or terminated; since schools are constantly bombed and damaged, or, otherwise, used as collective shelters.

Therefore, Beyaz Eller puts all its effort to support the educational services of sponsored schools. In 2016-2017, we collaborated with the international Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) to deliver education through seven sponsored schools inside Syria.

The project lasted for 12 months during term times, in addition to extra-curricular activities and summer courses to entertain the children and enhance their educational attainment, while keeping them safe from street dangers. The total number of beneficiaries reached 3,591 students and 189 teachers.

Sponsored Schools

  • Khlilu-Rahman, Nour al-Mostaqbal, and Al Mahaba Wal Ekhlas schools in western Aleppo countryside.
  • Al Sergawy and Bazabour schools in Idlib countryside.
  • Ezz Ibn Abd al-Salam and Sultan Mohamed Al Fatih schools in Damascus countryside.

Services to sponsored schools

The project started by restoration works, pursuing equipping and preparation, and repairing any damages. Then, students were received and full support was given to the educational process: teachers’ salaries, funds for summer activities, allowances for classroom heating during winter, in addition to distributing a small meal to students every week.

Also, teachers received stationary tools and training workshops to enhance professional and educational skills, particularly their teaching methods and self-development.

Meanwhile, the project took interest in entertainment activities to support the students psychologically and physically, by focusing on extra-curricular activities, sports and arts, and entertainment events- parties and school trips.
